Historic Beacon Hill
Maintaining the integrity & authenticity of this 1890 Beacon Hill home was at the heart of the design process for this renovation. Balancing aesthetics with function is always a challenge in small spaces, though by using the finest quality woodworking and a mixture of materials to add warmth, we were able to achieve results the homeowners are thrilled with.
Our Services
Form Function Style Balance Proportion are all important elements of design, however our most important principle is to understand the needs of our client. From the first meeting, our focus will be on gathering information about how your family uses not only the kitchen but the surrounding spaces as well, to ensure that the flow and function through the kitchen works from every perspective. Design requires the expertise of multiple team members with different views and our best designs are a collaborative effort with you, your architect and builder.
Big Island
Our client came to us and said they wanted the largest island that would fit in this open space. They do a great deal of entertaining and this space needed to serve many purposes. The island is 17' long with tons of storage!
Ultimate Collaboration with Architect
We want all of our clients and their design & build team to experience the impressive level of skill and professionalism of our designers when working with SKS Design Studio. In this instance, the design of the surrounding spaces defined the flow of the space. The kitchen had to make a statement as a separate space but still had to feel as though it grew from the surrounding walls.
